Support

Coway Map finds sheltered walking routes across Singapore — under covered walkways, through malls and MRT stations, so you arrive dry. If something is not working, or the map is wrong about a place you know, here is how to reach us.

Write to us

support@cowaymap.com

A small team reads this, usually replying within a couple of days. Telling us your device, your iOS or Android version, and what you tapped just before the problem will almost always save a round trip. For a routing problem, the start and end points matter more than anything else — we can reproduce it from those.

Before you write

These are the things people ask about most, and all of them you can fix yourself.

The map does not know where I am

Coway Map only asks for your location while the app is open. If you declined the prompt, iOS and Android will not ask again — turn it back on in your device settings, under Coway Map, and set it to While Using the App.

Indoors, and especially underground, your device's own position can drift by a hundred metres or more. That is the phone, not the map. You can always type a starting point instead of using your location.

It could not find a route

Coway Map covers Singapore only. A start or end outside the island has nothing to route between.

Inside Singapore, the usual cause is a start or end point that sits somewhere no pedestrian path reaches — the middle of an expressway, a plot with no footpath, or a building our data does not have an entrance for. Moving the pin to the nearest road or entrance normally fixes it. If it does not, send us the two points; that is a gap in our map and we want to know.

The route sent me somewhere with no shelter

Sheltered mode prefers cover, it does not guarantee it. Where no covered path exists, the route uses what is there rather than refusing to answer. Switching between Fastest, Balanced and Sheltered shows you the trade — sheltered routes are often longer, and sometimes much longer.

If a stretch really is covered and we routed you around it, that is a data error and the fix is described below.

Rain alerts are not arriving

Rain alerts are off until you turn them on, in Settings. They also need notification permission, which is separate — check Coway Map in your device notification settings.

They are alerts about your saved places, so they need an account and at least one place saved. We watch Singapore's rainfall readings and tell you when rain is falling within five kilometres of one of them.

You will not get a second alert about the same place straight away, even if the rain keeps up — otherwise one shower would send you a notification every five minutes.

I cannot sign in

Signing up by email sends you a numeric code, not a link. Enter that code in the app. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, check your spam folder — and if it landed there, marking it as not spam helps the next one through.

A code can only be used once, and expires. If yours is refused, ask for a new one rather than retyping the old.

You do not need an account to browse the map, search, or get routes. An account only exists so saved places and contributions follow you between devices.

The map is wrong about a place I know

This is the most useful thing you can tell us, and it does not go through email. In the app, open the place or the route and use Contribute: you can confirm a walkway is covered, report a path that is missing from the map, or flag something that is wrong.

Reports are checked against each other rather than applied on sight — two people who have walked the same stretch have to agree before the map changes. So a single report may not appear immediately. It is not lost.

Account and data

You can delete your account from inside the app, at any time, without asking us: Settings → Account → Delete account. It removes your account and saved places immediately, anonymises your contributions, and if you signed in with Apple it also disconnects the app from your Apple ID. It cannot be undone.

Contributions themselves stay on the map after deletion, with the link to you erased — removing them would quietly make everyone else's routes worse. The privacy policy explains exactly what is held, for how long, and who else sees it.

If the app is no longer on your phone, you do not have to reinstall it to be rid of the account. Write to privacy@cowaymap.com from the address you signed in with and ask us to delete it. We run exactly what the button in the app runs, and write back to confirm once it is done.

For a copy of your data, a correction, or any other privacy question, the same address reaches the same people — and reaches them faster than support does.

What Coway Map does not do

Being clear about this saves disappointment. Coway Map is for walking in Singapore. It does not give driving or cycling directions, does not cover other cities, and does not do turn-by-turn voice navigation. It plans a route and shows it to you; it does not talk you along it.

Shelter data comes from public sources and from people who have walked the route. Covered walkways get built, closed and rerouted, so the map can be out of date in either direction. Treat a sheltered route as a good bet, not a promise.

Still stuck

Write to support@cowaymap.com and tell us what happened. Screenshots help more than descriptions, and for anything about a route, the start and end points let us reproduce it exactly.
